Update
Greetings from the coast of Maine.
We're happy to report that our Daffodil Fundraiser to benefit the Tree of Life Food Pantry was a great success!
When we planned the event, we hoped to generate $500. But when the receipts were tallied, we had raised well over $2000! Not only did we sell more than 60 arrangements, but we received many donations from out-of-town friends and customers.
Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone for your generous support!
Belfast
As many of you know, we recently closed our Belfast store. We thought we should tell you why.
First of all, all good things must come to an end, at least sometimes. With every day that passed and with the benefit of more scientific information about the likelihood of a spike in the curve as the country "re-opened" for business, it became clearer to us that reopening our stores was not currently a viable option.
Since we own the building in Blue Hill we can wait indefinitely as the situation unfolds. But we rented the space in Belfast, and the lease was set to expire on July 1st. With all the uncertainty about the virus and potential health risks that lay ahead, we couldn't justify renewing for another lease term and continue to pay rent while being closed. So after much thought, we made the painful decision to close the Belfast store.
As you can imagine, this was not an easy decision, especially because Belfast was a thriving business. But safety was, and continues to be, our number one priority, and we didn't feel safe reopening until an effective vaccine was available.
The good news is that once we reopen in Blue Hill, we'll be able to concentrate all our effort there. And in the meantime, we can focus our energy on our already successful website.
We had a great run in Belfast. Five years went by in the blink of an eye. We will miss all the many friends we made. Remember, to all of you in Belfast who shopped with us – once we reopen in Blue Hill, we'll only be 45 minutes away. So come visit!
